Schramm have filed their answer to the complaint against them in circuit court fi'ed by Frank Carpenter and his wife, Harriett, denying that the ditch constructed across Norway avenue in Silverton obstructed and closed traffic and prevented the Carpenters from ingress egress to their property.

Parker and Schramm were constructing a pipe line and reservoir for the city of Silverton. They claim that the ditch was necessary to the laying of the city water pipe. First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Salem, announces a free lecture on Christian Science by Mr. John W. Doorly, C.

290 Fog SO dense that motorists used their headlights at 10 o'clock blanketed the eastern portion of the city Tuesday morning. The fog was countered shortly after crossing the railroad tracks on 12th street and spread east of the penitentiary.
