Monday, July 20, 1953 July Wedding-Pvt. and Mrs. Melvin Sohn (Sharon Baney), above, were married July 1. The couple are living in California where he is stationed with the army. (McEwan studio picture) Miss Anderson Is Married in South Silverton The San Francisco Ebenezer Lutheran church was the setting for the afternoon wedding Saturday, June 20, of Miss Barbara Anderson, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Ted Anderson of Silverton, and Alvin Speier, son of Mrs. Lucy Speier and the late Rudolph Speier of Alameda, Calif. The Rev. J.

Orville Martin read the service of the double ring ceremony. The bride was accompanied to the altar by her father. She wore a traditional slipper satin dress styled with sleeves, a fitted bodice inset over with net and seed pearls, and a court train. She carried a white Prayer book topped with orchids and bouvardia. Her net veil was secured by a floral beret.

Mrs. Robert Fedder of San Francisco was matron of honor for her sister, and best man was Wesley Speier of Alameda, brother of the bridegroom. The Robert Fedders arranged an informal reception at their San Francisco home for the newlyweds immediately following the ceremony. guests Among were the bride's parents, Mr. Ted Anderson, Mr.

and Mrs. Ernest Brenden of Silverton; Mrs. Gladys Peterson of Portland, a niece of the bride, Miss Donna Lee Thornley of Cloverdale, and Pfc. Orville Dahlen, cousin of the bride, formerly of Silverton, and now stationed at Fort Ord, Calif. For traveling the bride wore a navy blue suit with matching accessories.

Following a trip south, Mr. and Mrs. Speier will make their home in Alameda, on Thompson avenue. The bride attended Silverton schools and completed her work in the Philippine Islands. For the past four years she has been employed in San Francisco.

Mr. Speier, a graduate of the Alameda high school, served in the United States air force. Golden Wedding Event Silverton--The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Opsund, Portland, was observed Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran social rooms during the afternoon, with 34 relatives attending.

Present at the original wedding and at 50th sary were two sisters and a brother of Mr. Opsund, Mrs. Otto A. Dahl (Marie Opsund) of Silverton, Mrs. O.

L. Biggs of Culver City, and Theodore Opsund of Portland. A dinner was served by the local relatives. Ole Opsund and Pearl Fox were married at the home of the bride, July 4, 1903, and have lived in Madras, eastern Oregon, and for some time managed a sawmill on the Abiqua near Silverton. For a number of years they have made their residence in Portland.

Sweet Home Officer Resigns Position Sweet Home Police Chief Roy Clover announced the resignation of Doug Windom from the police force. Windom has served as patrolman for the past 21 months. Clover also announced that Windom's replacement would be James Garlick, 49, who has been a member of the police force at Florence.
