Can you help me in any way? Psychiatrist Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, author of "On Death and Dying" outlines five successive stages a patient may go through when he learns he is dying. They are: Denial No.not patient rejects the fact that he has a fatal illness. Anger-Why me? The patient becomes hard to handle; is overly critical and uncooperative. Bargaining Yes me, but The patient may suddenly turn cooperativr hoping this will chanee things.

Depression No communication. The patient psychologically separates himself from his family preparing for the loss of everything and everybody he loves. Acceptance-My time is very close now and it's all right. This is not a happy stage, but neither is it unhappy. It is not death itself that is frightenine it is the process of dying that is.
