SJ, 41790 Susie JoAnn Turvey March 3, 1947 April 13, 1990 INDEPENDENCE Susie JoAnn Turvey, 43, died Friday in her home.

A native of Dallas, she worked as a waitress and in a cannery. She married Edward Turvey on Aug. 6, 1966, in Independence, and returned to Independence from Hereford, Texas, in 1987. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 3895, Keizer, and Central Baptist Church, Monmouth.

Survivors include her hsuband; son, Edward II of Pendleton; daughter, Cindy Turvey of Independence; mother, Wastella Drew of Independence; brothers, James E. Williams of Dallas, Dick Drew of Monmouth, Timothy Drew of Antioch, and Patrick Drew of Rose Hill, sister, Sally Shewey of Independence; and one grandchild. Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hilltop Cemetery. Arrangements are by Farnstrom mortuary.

SJ, 41790 Jan. 29,1936 April 15, 1990 Raymond B. Bohanan, 54, died Sunday in Salem. He was born in Salem. He owned and operated Enterprises for 10 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; stepdaughter, Linda Ferris of Sublimity; sisters, Elsie Ruest of Longview, and Dora Forest of Kelso, brothers, Lloyd of Lincoln City, Roy, Jim, and Bob, all of Salem, Don of Longview, and William of Pleasant Hill; and one stepgrand-son. Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday in Claggett Cemetery, Keizer. Arrangements are by Barrick mortuary.

SJ, 41 790 George Asbury Linn July 22, 1897 April 15, 1990 George Asbury Linn, 92, of Salem, died Sunday. A native of Arctic, he was a carpenter most of his life. He moved to Salem from Tillamook in 1983. He was a corporal in the Army during World War I and a staff sergeant during World War II. He was a member of the Tillamook Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his brother, James O. of Salem; and Bisters, Sylvia McGraw of Philomath, and Edith Jones of Seattle. At the request of the deceased no services will be held. Private interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Arrangements are by DeMoss-Dur-dan mortuary, Corvallis.

SJ, 41790 Carol J. Eskelsen July 25,1940 April 4,1990 WOODBURN Carol J. Eskelsen, 49, died Saturday in a Salem nursing home. She was born in Burbank, and moved to Woodburn when she was 7 years old. She was a handicapped child.

Survivors include her brothers, Richard of Colorado Springs, and Paul of Hubbard; and sisters, Laurel Zurlirider of Woodburn, Linda Elliott of Reston, Mary Morin of Elton, 111., Sandra Paul of Eugene, Patty Eskelsen of Salem, and Kathy Korepta of Sweet Home. She married George C. Crockett on March 2, 1918, in Corvallis. She worked for many years at the Paris Women's clothing store before buying the store in 1944 with her sister. Theyowned and operated the store until 1962. She worked in other local women's clothing stores before retiring in 1976.

Her husband died in 1977. She moved to Salem in 1987. She was a member of the Alsea Methodist Church. She was a member of many business and professional organizations, including the American Legion Post No. 11 for more than 60 years and the Eight and 40 Salon No.

562. Survivors include her daughter, Edna M. MacRae of Salem; sister, Sylvia 0. Berenson of Sun City West, brother, George M. Buckingham of Corvallis; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

7,1918 April 15, 1990 Alvin Vance Richardson, 71, died Sunday in Portland. He was born in Madras, and attended Salem schools. He apprenticed at the Capital Journal and Elliott Printing House and was self-employed at Richardson Commercial Printing Establishment. Following his service in the Coast Guard during World War II, he became employed at the Oregon State University Press, Corvallis. He married Jewell Marion Turner on Aug.

25, 1939, in Salem. Survivors include his wife; son, Paul of Bend; sister, Alma Gregg of Madras; and two grandchildren. Private services will begin at 2:30 p.m. today in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Salem; daughters, Irene Alukonis of Salem, Mary Ann Hawks and Janice Whitney, both of Vancouver, brother, Alex S.

She was born in Albany and graduated from Albany High School and Portland Business College. Her ancestors were pioneers in the Albany area, and several landmarks bear her family name Hoefer-Connor. She married Rolla Roy Haindel in 1919. Survivors include her son, Donald E. of Portland and Robert C.

of West Linn; daughter, Sally J. Crino of Ti-gard; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Entombment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum. No services will be held. Arrangements are by Portland Memorial mortuary.

Contributions may be made to a charity of choice. SJ, 41790 Catherine M. Oaks May 1,1896 April 15, 1990 DAYTON Catherine M. Oaks, 93, died Sunday in a Newberg hospital. She was born in Holland.

In 1912 she moved to Washington state, where she worked as a maid before coming to Dayton in the early 1920s. She operated McDougall's Fruit Stand for 40 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Unity Ladies' Club in Dayton. Survivors include her son, John Noble of Salem; brothers, Pete and Geil Englen, both of Holland, and Hank Englen of Australia; sisters, Miena and Marietza Lammers of Holland; and two grandchildren. Services will begin at 2:30 p.m.

He served in the Army during World War II, coming to Lebanon in the early 1950s. He worked for Champion Plywood and was an active member of American Legion Post No. 51. He was the post service officer for 10 years, the District Three commander, and organized the post drill and ritual team. He was a member of St.

Edwards Catholic Church. He married Pearl Rowland on Dec. 5, 1942, in Tacoma, Wash. She died in April 1982. He is survived by his son, Joe daughter, Burdette Pearl Cunningham; brother, Henry of West Palm Peach, sister, Mary Wright of Manchester, and two grandchildren.

Visiting will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in Huston mortuary. Rosary will be said at 7 tonight in the mortuary. Funeral Mass begins at 1 1 a.m. Wednesday in the church, with interment in the Lebanon Odd Fellows Cemetery.

28,1924 April 16, 1990 Mary Elizabeth Smith, 65, died Monday in Salem. She was born in Devils Lake, N.D. She moved to Salem in 1946. She worked for Birds-Eye Foods for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of St.

Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Salem Eagles. She joyed cribbage and bingo. She married Albert A. Smith on March 18, 1948, in Vancouver, Wash. He died in 1978.

Survivors include her sons, Joe, Robert, and James, all of Salem; daughters, Margaret McDowell of Albany and Mary Anne Anderson of Salem; and eight grandchildren. Visiting will begin at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Wednesday in Keizer mortuary, with rosary being said at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the mortuary.

'Bud' Townsend Jan. 19, 1912 April 14, 1990 CORVALLIS Vernon E. "Bud" Townsend, 78, died Saturday in his Tangent home. He was born in Portland and lived in several communities before coming to Corvallis. He graduated from Tangent High School, and entered the Oregon National Guard in 1929.

Serving during World War II in the Army, he continued in the National Guard until retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He also worked on local power line construction jobs. He married Helen Slate on May 29, 1949, in Vancouver, Wash. He is survived by his wife. Graveside services will begin at 2:30 p.m.

He was born in Philomath and served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his discharge as a staff sergeant in 1946 he returned to Philomath and worked as a shovel operator until retiring in 1988. He married Donna L.

Haines Sutter on April 1, 1972, in Reno, Nev. He was a life member of the Springfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3965 and the Corvallis Moose Lodge No. 1411. He enjoyed playing pool and hunting. Survivors include his wife; sons, Dennis of Pasadena, and Darren of Juneau, Alaska; daughters, Vangie Kirkevold and Coleen Lossett, both of Juneau; stepsons, Richard Sutter of Kennewick, Robert Sutter of Philomath, and Russell Sutter of Hillsboro; brothers, Merle Gee of Peoria, and Carl Follett of Philomath; and 10 grandchildren.

10, 1923 April 11, 1990 NEWPORT Kit Newton Carson, 66, died Wednesday in Newport. A direct descendant of the Indian scout Kit Carson, he was born in Ada, Okla. He was a general contractor and commercial fisherman, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 12 in Genoa, and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite member in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Survivors include his wife, Lila; sons, Kit Charles, and Steven all of Palmdale, daughter, Kathryn Cambell of Lancaster, brother, Robert of Klamath Falls; and four grandchildren. Thieda, 50, died Sunday in Albany General Hospital. She was born in Lebanon, and lived there until marrying Roger Thieda on July 24, 1954, in Lebanon. She then lived in Michigan until returning to Lebanon in 1978. She moved to California at an early age with her family, living in Bakers-field until she was 8 years old. She moved to Albany with her parents and graduated from high school there in 1954. She married Ron C. Van Sickle on Feb. 14, 1957, in Corvallis.

She was a secretary for Gene Hansen Insurance Agency and also was a volunteer for Good Samaritan Hospital and Reach for Recovery Program for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed bowling and handstitching. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Jeri Chittim of Corvallis and Sandi Hering of Philomath; son, Mike of Philomath; sisters, Delores Dudley of Toledo and Dorothy Hicks of Albany; and brothers, John Cahill of Springfield and William Cahill of California; and four grandchildren. Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m.

Irma Fern Brennan, 88, formerly of Albany, died Sunday in Poulsbo. She was born in Polk, Neb. She lived in Idaho before moving to Albany in 1945. She moved to Bain-bridge, in 1981, and to Poulsbo in 1989. She was a homemaker and member of Albany First United Methodist Church.

She married William Brennan on Jan. 25, 1921, in Buhl, Idaho. He died in 1949. She is survived by her daughter, Leonora Hughes of Green Bay, song, William II of Harbor City, and John of Seattle; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m.

Thursday in Willamette Memorial Park, Albany. Contributions may be made to the church. SJ, 41790 Charles W. Ellison Dec. 14, 1914 April 15, 1990 SWEET HOME Charles W.

Ellison, 75, died Sunday in Lebanon. He was born in Spiro, Okla. He moved to Oxnard, at the age of 20. He was a World War II pilot, and served with the Flying Tigers in China. He won the Purple Heart and was a member of the Sweet Home Veterans of Foreign Wars No.

3437. He married Mary Valderrama in Oxnard on Sept. 22, 1937. He also was a member of the American Legion Sweet Home Timber City Post No. 133.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Naomi Smith of Everett, son, Charles of Redmond; sister, Ann Pay-ton of Carson City, brother, Bill of Ojai, nine granchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Visiting will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Steckly-Tracewell mortuary, Sweet Home. Graveside services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Union Cemetery, Crawfordsville.

SJ, 41790 Joseph Eugene Lalack Feb. 12, 1924 April 15, 1990 MILL CITY Joseph Eugene La-lack, 66, of Mill City, died Sunday in Salem Hospital. He was born in Salem and later moved to Mill City where he was raised and educated. He was a Marine Corps veteran and was discharged in 1946. He married Millicent Howe on Dec.

6, 1947, in Mill City. He wag employed for Mill Wright Mills for 13 years and then worked for and retired from Champion Building Products after 17 years. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and was a Yankee baseball club fan. He was a member of the Mill City Eagles No. 3384 for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife; son, Monte of Salem; daughter, Nancy Haugen of Spokane, brothers, William, Donald, David and Andrew, all of Dalles; sister, Mary Barton of Dallas; and grandson, Michael Haugen of Spokane, Wash. No services will be held at the request of the deceased. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gates. She was office nurse for Dr. R. P. Andersen for 25 years before becoming office nurse for Dr. VanSanten.

She retired as a claims examiner for SAIF Corp. She was a member of the Stayton Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, George of Salem; sisters, June Longfellow of Me-hama, Georgia Walls of Scio, and Elaine Marshall of Albany; and one grandchild. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Weddle's mortuary.

Interment will be in Lone Oak Cemetery, Stayton. Contributions may be made to the Mid-Willamette Valley Hospice. Wilbur James Tripp Oct. 11,1912 April 15, 1990 Wilbur James Tripp, 77, of Salem, died Sunday in his home. He was born in Belvidere, and came to Salem in 1945.

He served in the Navy from 1931 to 1947, retiring as a chief warrant officer. He suffered a permanent disability from injuries sustained when his ship hit a mine in Cherbourg Harbor, France, in 1944. He worked in the traffic counter section of the Engineering Division of the Oregon State Highway Department, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Christian church, the Salem Elk's Lodge, and the Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed bowling and music.

Survivors include his sons, Warren D. "Skip" of Dallas, and William K. of Salem; sisters, Naomi Goode of Grants Pass and Rachel Manolis of Salem; and four grandchildren. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Howell-Edwards-Doerk-sen mortuary.

SJ, 41 790 Lorene E. Chilcote May 24, 1909 April 12, 1990 LEBANON Lorene E. Chilcote, 80, died Thursday in a Tualatin hospital.

She was born in Lebanon, and graduated form Lebanon High School in 1928. She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband in their wood and sawdust business, and later for their furniture and appliance store in Lebanon. She last worked for Thomas E. Gates Construction for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church.

She married Paul Chilcote on Sept. 18, 1932, in Lebanon. He died in 1956. Survivors include her sons, Glenn of Lake Oswego and Paul W. of Seattle; daughter, Colleen Foster of Roseburg; brothers, Warren Randle of Albany and Samuel Randle of Shawnee Mission, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Private interment will be in Lebanon Odd Fellows Cemetery, with a 4 p.m. Friday memorial service in the church. Contributions may be made to the church or the Arthritis Foundation. lona Fern Holmes, 85, formerly of Dallas, died Wednesday in Santa Barbara. She was born in Minnesota and moved to the Dallas area in the early 1900s. She graduated from Dallas High School and married Forrest F. Holmes on June 8, 1924, in Dallas. He died in 1984.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star, and the Willamette Valley Matrons Patrons Association. She moved to Santa Barbara six years ago. Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Hankins of Santa Barbara, and Wanda McClelland of St. Louis; sister, Vera Rogers of Albany; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday in Belcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
