Plans Concert Farm Purchased In Talbot Area Statesman News Service TALBOT Mr. and Mrs. Gilford Baum have sold their 63-acre farm at Talbot to Wayne Simon, operator of the Millers-burg Market.

The Baums are now operating the store, which was a part of the transaction. They have lived on the farm since 1958. The farm was formerly the George Potts place. rector. Kaiser has been assigned to Adair Air Force Station as the base's first Catholic chaplain in two years. Born in Stratford, Chaplain Kaiser was ordained a priest May 24, 1958, served as instructor and athletic director Regis High School in Eau Ciaire. and as Air Force chaplain at Hamilton AFB, and cn Okinawa. He is active in sports and earned part cf his college funds playing semi-pro ball. City Officers Are Selected At Waterloo Statesman News Service lBANON A unanimous vote from the small town of Waterloo south of Lebanon elected Richard Paull mayor of the community this week.

He received all 23 votes cast. The community of approximately 200 has 51 registered voters. Ernest Scott was elected unanimously as treasurer. Frosty Piercy received 21 votes for recorder-judge. George Scott was elected marshal with 18 write-in votes.

There was no candidate for the post. Six councilmen, including four women were elected. These were Mrs. Bertha Scott, C. D.

Winingham, J. B. Atchley, Myrth Dodson, Leerea Zook and Polly Thomas. -Two amendments to the city constitution were passed. One changed the term of office for city officials from one to two years.

This will apply to the officers elected Monday. The second amendment will change the date of the city elections to coincide with that of state and county. Fairview Hospital Gifts Are Sought Statesman News Service ALBANY The Linn Association for Retarded Children is collecting Christmas gifts for persons in the Fairview Hospital and Training Center. Many of the patients have no families, LARC officials say, and depend entirely on the public's generosity for gifts at Christmas. Articles may be taken to the Red Cross Headquarters or donors may call Mrs.

Fred Hal vorsen. Gifts should not be wrapped, but the donor may provide such materials and they will be wrapped at Fairview. Deer Hides Collected to Aid Veterans Statesman News Service LEBANON The Lebanon Elks Lodge has collected 450 deer hides in the annual drive for craft materials for veteran's hospital programs, according to Bill O'Brien, chairman of the collection program. Last year 405 were collected. The annual drive for hides supplies materials for the veteran's program and provides funds for the mobile physical therapy unit, which is a new project of the state Elks lodge.

Since this is a statewide program, more hides are contributed than can be used at the veteran's facilities, O'Brien pointed out. PTA to Keep Affiliation Statesman News Service MILL CITY Members of the Santiam Parent-Teachers Association have voted to continue their affiliation for the present. The possibility of forming a Parent-Teachers Club was considered, and a group of mothers are visiting PTCs in other communities. Several students have received state PTA scholarships, and this was a factor in deciding to retain PTA affiliation. Mrs.

Howard Morrison, PTA president, said attempts to get a well-child clinic in the Mill City-Gates area are being investigated. She said the service has not been available for the past two years. Church to Start Athletic Teams Statesman News Service JEFFERSON Basketball and volleyball teams will be made up this Saturday at 3:30 p.m at Talbot Community church center. Mark Edwards and Wayne Simons will be man agers. Opportunities for various age groups will be offered, and the volleyball teams will include both men and women.

They are Mary Pat Lee, current student body secretary, and David Alrich, student body presidential candidate. Miss Lee is an active member of the National Honor Society, Future Teachers of America, is current TNT vice president and has served on the Girls League Council for two years. She recently won the DAR award for citizenship and she is co-editor of this year's annual. Alrich has held class offices, served as the Boy's League vice president, and as Federalist Party chairman. He has been in the band for four years and is on the wrestling squad.

Albany Short Of UF Goal Statesman News Servic ALBANY The outlook is not bright for Albany United Fund, according to Chester Davies, Davies, chairman. Goals for the fund drive are set according to minimum needs of the agencies involved, he said, and the Albany drive has raised only 73.5 per cent of the goal of $39,600. Linn County has reached 81 per cent of its goal. The budget committee will meet Wednesday to plan expend itures for agencies supported by the fund. The "outstanding correspondent of the year" tro Gervais Stays Within Budget, Report Shows Statesman News Service GERVAIS The budget report of the last fiscal year for the city of Gervais was read by Jack Magnuson. representative cf the accounting firm of Lippold, Brenner and Bingen-heimer of Salem, at Wednesday night's town council meeting. No funds had been overextended. Magnuson commended recorder Ed Studer. Mayor Rex Cuts-forth and the council for their operation of the School Questions Charge Fred L.

Archer, superintendent of Gervais High School, represented the school board in a complaint against a monthly $25 sewer charge in addition to the $30 water fee, as the school has its own sewer system and is outside the city limits. Mayor Cutsforth said that according to the sewer ordinance, any property receiving city water also was required to pay a sewer charge. The high school has a private well, believed to be adequate to the school's use, but possibly not dependable in case of fire, and it would be costly to put into service and keep up. The council and Archer agreed to set up a meeting between the two parties to solve the matter. Water Tests Okeh Tests made on city water for results of the Nalco water conditioner, now in use, proved satisfactory.

The council agreed to place a street drain at First and Hemlock to facilitate water flow in that area. sent a chart of the 65 light posts in the city, and the company has installed newest type mercury vapor lights in all areas. Parkerville Program Due Statesman Newt Service GERVAIS The Parkersville Elementary School in North Brooks will present its school Christmas program, Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. The student body will give recitations, skits and individual musical numbers.

Christmas customs of other lands will be featured. It is open to the public. Parkersville School will close for the Christmas holidays on Fri day, Dec. 23. Classes for the new year will begin on Tues day, Jan.
